Together We Can Give Kids A Snuggle
Childhood Cancer Is Tough
But Together We Are Tougher!
Bryanna’s Love was founded in honor of Bryanna Kitchen, who was diagnosed with Early T-cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP-ALL) only 3 weeks after her 9th birthday. Bryanna was admitted into Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC on August 1st, 2016 where she stayed for the duration of her battle with ETP-ALL. Bryanna passed away only three short months later on October 24th, 2016. One of the few things that gave her the strength to smile during this time was the many stuffed animals and the blanket she received, and of which stayed on her bed throughout treatment. It is through that experience, that Bryanna’s Love, Inc will provide the same comfort to the patients and families battling childhood cancer at Children's Hospitals around the United States. It is our goal to give comfort to the brave children battling cancer, their siblings and their parents through our Give Kids A Snuggle program and our Sibling Love program. Through these programs we hope to offer snuggling stuffed animals and comfy blankets for both the cancer warrior as well as their family, and offer respite trips to the siblings and their families after suffering a catastrofic loss due to childhood cancer.
To support pediatric cancer research for ETP-ALL as it comes with one of the lowest survival rate (30% - 40%) and very limited research. Furthermore, ETP-ALL does not have any targeted specialized treatment protocol and therefore uses protocols designated for AML. However, this has not helped improve the survival rate of this particular genotype of leukemia. We want to help change that. As we grow and through Fundraising initiatives, Bryanna’s Love will help fund pediatric cancer research with a specific focus on Early T-cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It is with this initiative that we hope ETP-ALL research will find a targeted protocol for treatment and eventually find a cure.
Bryanna’s Love offers comfort and support to families whose child is facing a cancer diagnosis and are undergoing treatment in a hospital setting. We will do this primarily by providing children battling cancer on the oncology units a soft stuffed animal to snuggle, and a blanket to cuddle. In addition, we will offer their families a cozy blanket for comfort as they encourage their child every day. All stuffed animals and blankets are collected through our Give Kids A Snuggle Campaign whereby generous people purchase the new items and donate them to us. We then donate each and every received item to the children and their families at the hospital.
Bryanna's Love will offer respite trips to siblings and families who lost a sibling/child to pediatric cancer. There are very few organizations that focus on siblings and their struggle, especially after loss from cancer. It is our mission to become a resource to help these children and families make special memories in honor of their sibling/child after the hardest battle of all of their lives. These trips can consist of local day trips or short trips to locations important to the families so that they can honor their child/sibling, and spend some time knowing that they too matter as they try to make new memories that will hopefully give them a moment of respite from the hardship of cancer and loss.
